FSE 201 – Building Construction
A major component in the study of fire science is the examination of how fire and safety codes are planned into new construction and development projects. In the Building Construction for the Fire Service course, students will evaluate architectural plans and diagrams and learn how they relate to building and fire safety. Students will interpret the Life Safety Code, and how it relates to building plans. In addition students will complete a building fire and safety analysis, identifying building components, construction principles, loads and forces, and provide recommendations to ensure safety. An understanding of CAD, blueprints, will be gained and students will learn to create scale drawings, survey and diagram commercial properties.
