SSE 831 – Evolution of U.S. Emergency Management

This course covers more than a century of catastrophic events including earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, droughts, a pandemic, and explosions that were pivotal in the evolution of emergency management functions and systems in the United States. Students will learn about emergency management policy and administrative changes that have been implemented over the past century and the historical context for the changes.
