FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES

The Fire & Emergency Services Concentration and Certificate programs were designed to build graduate-level knowledge on top of the experience-based skills of professional fire, rescue and emergency response personnel.

The curriculum of the Fire & Emergency Services concentration focuses on current issues that affect first response organizations and their strategic operations. Courses in this concentration include strategic planning, leadership, financial administration and public emergency services.

The dynamic fields of first response management, fire engineering and rescue operations, require assertive leaders who can see beyond a situation. This concentration fortifies the leadership aptitude of fire and emergency service professionals, preparing them for management level responsibilities.

Faculty Spotlight:Dr. Larry Collins

Dr. Larry Collins is the former president of the Kentucky Safety and Health Network and the Kentucky Association of Cooperative Education and Career Placement. He has been involved in safety and education since 1973 and during that time he has co-authored several publications and has been involved in numerous professional organizations.

The Program Concentration allows graduate students to build on field-specific knowledge of their interest. The Certificate Program follows the same curriculum guidelines, offering specialized knowledge for professionals who already hold a graduate degree.
