Dr. Michael Collier is closely involved with Kentucky Homeland Security and emergency management institutions across the state. He is also an active member of the Homeland Security and Defense Education Consortium Association (HSDECA) and International Association of Intelligence Educators (IAFIE). Prior to his arrival at EKU, he was a professor of national security and intelligence studies at American Military University, Charles Town, W.V. He is also a former director of research and academic programs at Florida International University’s Latin American and Caribbean Center.
Dr. Collier is a retired U.S. Coast Guard commander. In a 22-year Coast Guard career, he was a specialist in deep-water cutter operations and a sub-specialist in law enforcement and military intelligence.
