Michael Shane LaCount, Facilitator

Michael Shane LaCount is the Assistant Fire Chief of Training, Safety and Risk Management where he coordinates department training activities and assists the risk management division in instruction and coordination of town wide safety programs for the Town of Mooresville, North Carolina. His previous positions include an OSHA 10/30 Hour Trainer, a Fire Investigator with the Richmond Fire & Rescue and the Program Coordinator for EKU’s online fire degree.

Shane holds an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Protection Technology Engineering from Gaston College, and a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University. He also earned his Master’s of Science in Loss Prevention and Safety with EKU.

Shane is currently enrolled in the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program, and he holds numerous Office of the State Fire Marshal Certifications. In his free time, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and daughter Avery.
