The program also covers the legal and regulatory side of working in the safety and security industry, as well as labor laws and how to conduct a safety audit.

A Complete Safety Education

The Master’s Degree in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management with a Concentration in Labor and Employment features a group of core courses designed to provide an advanced and well-rounded safety, security and emergency management foundation. These graduate level courses establish the groundwork for your elected concentration to build on. The core of the program is an advanced examination of safety, leadership, legal issues, compliance, emergency response, research, auditing, and more.

Safety, Security and Emergency Management General Electives

Labor and Employment
Study the administration of workers compensation programs and learn to effectively manage work-related injury and illness claims. Assess and analyze the labor and employment issues that directly affect health and safety within a company. Study collective bargaining from an employee and employer perspective. Examine the discrimination issues and labor laws that can impact health and safety.

Labor and Employment Concentration Electives

* If pursuing a specific Concentration in Labor and Employment, all of the above courses must be completed. However, these courses are also available as electives towards another concentration or towards a multi- disciplinary concentration.
