Dr. Ryan Baggett, Assistant Professor, Safety Security and Emergency Management-Homeland Security
The policy course is a broad stroke, looking at various policies on border security, we look at critical and structure protection. We look on hot-topic items such as the difference between safety and security and civil liberties. Can you have security and civil liberties at the same time? Is there a balance there that needs to be followed? What I encourage the students to do, who are all graduate level students, is look deep in a policies that have been created for this country and question them. That’s the great thing about a university; we can come and provide frameworks, critical and creative thinking, to question the policies that are currently in place.
